The Tau Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. initiated their signature event, the Pearls & Onyx Scholarship Ball over 29 years ago. The ball is the culmination of a seven-month program that celebrates the transition of young ladies and young men into adulthood.
For over 29 years, we have provided guidance and mentorship to both male and female high school seniors, offering them the opportunity to earn scholarship funds while contributing to the community through service projects. This initiative also strengthens their social and communication skills, all while fostering lifelong friendships.
All proceeds support college scholarship opportunities for seniors, sponsored by the Women of Pearls Community Action Foundation.
